Come exploring by boat as we visit Newfoundland and Labrador. Anchor within sight of spectacular Gros Morne National Park and visit Red Bay and Battle Harbour Labrador world heritage sites. Sail past icebergs and explore Newfoundland’s last functioning whaling station. Then relax in beautiful Notre Dame Bay.

In this 60 minute presentation Jayne and Mike depart in their Niagara 35 sloop from Corner Brook and the Bay of Islands with a fast downwind sail to Woody Point and Gros Morne. From there they sail up the Strait of Belle Isle to Cow Head, Port Saunders and St. Barbe, and cross to the UNESCO World Heritage sites at Red Bay, and Battle Harbour Labrador. Back in Newfoundland we visit L’Anse Aux Meadows, St. Anthony’s and sail down the rugged north east coast to Cape St. John and Notre Dame Bay. Included is information about routes, marinas, harbours and anchorages, refueling and reprovisioning.

Just to illustrate where we’ll be sailing in this years trip. From Lake Ontario down the St. Lawrence to Montreal, Quebec City, and then on to Cap a l’aigle, and up the Sagueany’s fiord to Anse St. Jean and Baie Éternité.

From there we’ll make our way to Grande Bergeronne, and then cross to Rimouski, on the south shore of the St. Lawrence.

Sailing east on the south shore to St Anne des Monts, we’ll cross to Sept Isles, then sail along Quebec’s Cote Nord Duplessis region to Natshquan, from where we’ll cross to the Bay of Islands, Newfoundland.

Part 6 covers sailing from Nova Scotia, 300 nautical miles across the Gulf of Maine to Boston. We then visit Newport Rhode Island, sail down Long Island Sound to New York City and return to Lake Ontario via the Hudson River and Erie & Oswego Canals. About 1200 miles total distance covered in 38 days.
