Our tickets are purchased. Jayne leaves on Monday, July 11 and Mike leaves after work on Friday, July 15.

We’ve had a busy winter getting things ready for our summer’s cruise in Newfoundland. Mike has been getting ready to upgrade our 20 yr-old rigging and has ordered new wire shrouds and a new Harken furler that is being shipped directly to the yacht club in Long Pond.

The other key upgrade is an additional solar panel, also now shipped out. Lori Anderson, the manager at Royal Newfoundland has been very accommodating in accepting and storing all this gear we have been sending out!

Jayne has rebuilt the dodger and will be doing final fitting and adjustments in the days before Mike arrives. The new flexible solar panel was spec’d with zipper attachments so that will also need to be sewn onto the bimini. This upgrade should now make Phantasia truly self-sufficient for power requirements.

Also on Jayne’s agenda is a visit to Spaniard’s Bay, just across Conception Bay from Long Pond, where her paternal grandfather, Patrick Finn was from.

  3. Jayne & Mike:
WE are planning a sail on our C&C 38 from Port Stanley, Ontario to East Coast and south to Islands. It would be such a help if we could read your experience making that trip the long way south !! We don’t want to take the ICW. Any info is appreciated. Just found your web page. We are taking a Power Squadron course with Barry on extended cruises -I believe you know him. I have sailed for many years in Great lakes.
    Cheers

    • Hi Ed,
Most of our our sailing adventures are posted here or on YouTube or Vimeo & Facebook. Have a look through and let us know if you have any questions. We’ll be speaking at The Toronto Boat Show in January 2017, stop by to talk if you have a chance, our shows will be listed on their web site.
