We have the latest Panasonic micro 4/3rds camera, the GH4, and are just getting to know how to use it, before we depart for Newfoundland. The GH4 has many new features, improved focussing with focus peaking built in, it’s very handy in manual focus mode – but the big difference over the GH3 is the 4 can shoot in C4K mode, capturing moving at images at 4096 x 2160. It seems to be a tremendous move up in image detail, I’m shooting some tests in C4K-cined mode, and outputting them to HD 1920 x 1080. Note the exquisite detail in the delphiniums both white and purple. I baited our resident blue jay family, there are 2 adults with 3 chicks, with peanuts and managed to catch one of the adult birds swoop in and nab a nut. The action takes all of 5 seconds so I repeated it slowing down the motion and scaling up the image. We’ll be sailing in Newfoundlands Notre Dame Bay in late July, and perhaps south to St. John’s and Newfoundland’s south coast. We hope to capture some nice footage, I think in C4K.
Best,
Mike
